Welcome to SS Puppets new website. We were formally known as SS Puppet Factory. The reason for the name change was because we where getting inquiries from companies wanting us to mass produce puppets. We are a home based business that deals in custom built puppets on a small scale. Our primary goal in the past years has been to help teach others how to start out in the puppet making process by providing the right resources. It has worked because many people we have helped are now professional builders and have striving businesses. Some are church youth ministers with very successful puppet teams. Young or old whether your dream was short lived or a reality we have been thrilled to have been a part of it.

We would like to tell you about what is new at SS Puppets. We have decided to keep things  simple. No bells and whistles, Just plain and to the point. You will be able to access all the favorite forums, blogs, links, quick and easy. We will have a web store with kits that you may find useful in your puppet building process. The Web store will start out small and grow as time goes by as I learn more what people are needing in ready made kits. So if you have a idea as to what type kit you would like for us to stock please let us know.

We have some puppet related sponsor ideas in the works so if you are a company that might be interested please contact me on the details. We don’t want to spill the beans before we open the can so to speak. It may be very beneficial to all.

We are real excited about things around here at SS Puppets… We had a year off due to personal business. This gave us time to think of ideas of what to do that would be fun and exciting for all. This has been a good year with Daryl of puppets live on blog TV, Shawn from Puppets and Stuff, The explosion of YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and much more. So Please be patient as we work on developing the website and integrating these new ideas and ways for you to enjoy the World of Puppetry.

Let us first decide what type puppetry you like?  What will best suit your needs whether it is theatre, public library, school, or a church ministry?

What is Puppetry? It is an art where any inanimate object is brought to life. The sky is the limit and most anything up for grabs when it comes to being a puppet. It is neither an offshoot of dance nor drama though it can be a form of either or both.

There are three requirements to be a puppet.

1) A form to be animated.

2) A person to do the animating.

3) A method of control that uses all or part of the puppeteer’s body, or an extension of it through rod’s, strings, wires, magnets, or a combination of these.
